Across the United States, opportunities within the tech hiring market are still expanding, with a slow but steady pace of growth. However, the overall mood in the market is still cautious compared to the job boom experienced in 2021 and 2022. During that time, companies over-hired and over-paid, which has now led to companies being more careful on hiring into FTE positions.
In the wider market, the persistence of high interest rates has also had an impact on ‘real’ investment in new project work that has also been affected by uncertainty over the true, immediate utility of AI solutions across the economy. Although the Federal Government cut interest rates in late 2024, businesses are still waiting to feel and act on those rates in 2025. Enterprises are not spending on huge, radical investments whilst the full impact of the ’new’ has yet to be fully rationalized.
Regardless, demand remains strong for key hires in all sectors of Technology given the underlying health of the US economy and the success of the sector in global terms. There are many envious onlookers from overseas looking at the USA as a growth opportunity and this has led to increased demand in the GTM space and in certain engineering, analysis and business disciplines.
The trends in the US tech workforce market are positive with some room for transition. As businesses look to adapt to new developments, the demand for skilled professionals to implement and drive business applications will create plenty of opportunities.
